- Bob grew up in New York City, in a family heavily into music. He was trained in classical music and regularly attended the NY Philharmonic & The Metropolitan Opera. Bob sang in his school choir and even sung at Lincoln Center. (Okay, he was part of a large choir but, it's true.) As a kid, he enjoyed of a wide variety of music, where he would be listening to Mozart one minute followed by Bob Marley the next, which lead directly to his eclectic style of DJing. Having been to many operas and classical performances as a child, as a teenager the first rock concert Bob went to was Emerson, Lake and Palmer, which seems strangely appropriate, considering the bands heavy use of synthesizers. Of course, through out his life he has seen many concerts, from the Grateful Dead to Jimmy Cliff, Herby Hancock, James Brown, REM, Echo & the Bunny Men and Pink Floyd to name a few from a list that is extremely long. Bob soaked up music like a sponge. Bob's first job in the music business was at PolyGram record's New York headquarters, giving him a chance to learn the music business, plus get stacks of free promo records. This let him to listen to hundreds of unknown bands, where he would pick out and play for his friends, many bands who went on to become famous. This demonstrated to him his almost uncanny ability to identify music that would be popular, before it became popular, which is a critical element to Bob's DJ skills. Bob quit Polygram, as their poor financial condition at that time, made advancement almost impossible. He eventually moved to Melbourne Florida, to go to college at the Florida Institute of Technology where he studied aviation and obtained a commercial pilots license. However, instead of ending up in a cockpit he wound up in the on-air studio at the college radio station, WFIT-FM. It was an amazing organization, where a group of many talented people really pored their hearts and souls into WFIT by doing great radio shows, nightclub nights, along with live concerts featuring the alternative bands that WFIT played. All to build WFIT into being locally popular and nationally recognized as one of the top college radio stations in the country, at that time. In addition to being an on-air DJ he served on the stations advisory board, and, due to his knowledge of electronics, he was also on the engineering staff and helped keep the equipment working. All this drastically increased Bob's knowledge of music along with the promotion, business and technology that go with it. Inexplicably the university went to an all jazz format, destroying one of the best college radio stations in the country. However, by this point Bob had already established a name for himself and was soon able to get another radio show, on WA1A FM, doing a Saturday night electronic dance mix show. The whole DJ culture and dance scene was still relatively new and underground and he became one of the first DJs to mix electronic dance music on a major radio station in Florida. With twenty times the power, the station broadcast much further than WFIT, which gave him a much larger audience and he would get phone calls from all over east central Florida, many from people who would never go to a nightclub but, loved the music. This convinced him of the value of putting this music on the radio where thousands of more people could enjoy it. Eventually WA1A got a new manager who did not take kindly to an electronic dance music show and, despite the good ratings & stream of advertising revenue, let Bob go in order to make the station top forty 24/7.(Yuk!) While one of the things that distinguishes Bob from most other dance DJs is his extensive experience with radio, Bob of course spun at many pubs & clubs mainly in Central Florida including being a resident at MARZ, The Village Underground, and Outer Limits. Also frequenting other hot spots around the state, especially Simon's in Gainesville and other places he knows he spun but, doesn't quite remember where he was. Bob has also made music. He is a producer of numerous dance tracks and two full length albums for the ambient band Enterphase. He had his own music project Flowtation, that was signed to LA's Rampant Records. Bob also worked as an independent promotion consultant with various clubs, designing flyers and especially producing a multitude of radio ads that are still remembered years later for their tightly edited and catchy music beds. Finally, after almost fifteen years of being a DJ and making music, Bob became burnt out so, he retired from music and went full time into finance and investing which he had been teaching himself and doing part time all along. He did quite well, even running a hedge fund but, while this made his bank account healthy, as the stress and hard work took it's toll. His health declined and his spirit went bankrupt. Finance made more money than music but, it burnt him out even worse. Now, he has put that behind him, recovered most of his health and has come back to his true love which is working with music. If you see him out spinning, feel free to make a request, but don't ask for a stock tip. All you will get is a dirty look. So, instead just relax enjoy the music from a diversely talented ground breaking DJ, who can do many things from fixing a computer, to flying a plane or running a hedge fund but, finds music to be his true passion. (Well, flying planes doesn't exactly suck.)
