Tiesto to Host A Sirius Channel in 2012

Tiësto, long a major figure in European electronic dance music, will begin hosting a music channel on Sirius XM satellite radio early next year, a spokesman for the radio network said.

The channel will broadcast dance music in a variety of styles selected by Tiësto, the Dutch D.J. who is known for his six-hour live sets and his memorable performance during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympics in Athens. A master of trance and progressive house music, he has sold more than 761,000 records in the last decade.

His new channel, called Tiësto’s Club Life Radio, will feature Tiësto’s own mixes and music by artists on his label, Musical Freedom, which he started in late 2010. “It will be an awesome way to showcase the incredible artists on my own label, play new material of my own as well as other music that I’m really passionate about,” said Tiësto, whose real name is Tijs Verwest. Tiësto currently hosts a Saturday show on Sirius’s Electric Area channel, but that program will be moved to a new channel on Edge satellite radios and on the Sirius XM Internet radio site.
