We are all getting the through this week just as if it was another standard week. Thank God, it’s almost the weekend. Nothing special is going down but hold up for one second…did Nebbra just drop a brand new EP on fresh indie label Name the Game? You betcha he did and we have got the pleasure of premiering this inspiring collection of tunes for that first listen. So, prepare yourselves…

After his first EP on Zedd’s Dead label Dead Beats the bar was set pretty high. However, Nebbra‘s second EP, entitled, ‘Primal Chronicles’ definitely raises the bar – bringing a genre-defying, mesmerising collection together.

This collection initiates with a mellow, chiming progression in the primary track, ‘Take My Hand’.  Climaxing with a Nebbra-signature drop, one of those drops which leaves no prisoners behind. ‘Take My Hand’ has the perfect blend of Madeon-esque synths and smooth driving basslines. Packed full of originality at every twist and turn in its layers. Take My Hand” features the vocal of Californian singer Gonzalla, who has quickly made his presence to the extent of singing on Kanye’s forthcoming album. Pretty cool indeed.

This moves ever so smoothly in the secondary track entitled, ‘Ashes Reborn’. Instead, starting with a more RnB feel to this track with reverbed claps and pitched vocals samples to hard kicking drop. Nebbra just doesn’t mess about when it comes to production and this EP is no exception. The second track is definitely a live set-born tune for future Nebbra sets.

Thirdly and finally we have primal. With the track’s name you know this is the showcase track to the EP. This euphoric synth driven tune build to a really clever drop which leaves plenty of space for groove with its sound design and unique rhythm. This EP left us wanting more, definitely in the mood for seeing a Nebbra live set in the near future. It’s great taste of the big things to come also on the Name the Game indie label.

Paul Van Dyk Opens Up About Upcoming Tour

Thu, 04/27/2017 - 1:43pm

Paul Van Dyk is a household name in dance music thanks to his long career of boundary pushing electronic music. Van Dyk began seeing success in the 90’s with releases like his remix of “Love Stimulation” and his hit single “For An Angel”. From there, he climbed to the top, becoming the Grammy Award winning artist we know now. Most recently, Van Dyk has announced a North American tour in collaboration with Dreamstate. To honor this exciting news, we dove into an interview with him to discuss the tour and how his recovery has been.

Seeing as this is a big tour for Van Dyk, I was curious how his recovery process has been going.

“The doctors said it will take probably 4-5 years until I don’t feel the long-lasting effects of the accident anymore,” he said, “and that if I reach 50% of what I could before, it is considered a success in the light of my injuries.”

Given that news Van Dyk is determined to push forward, as we can see with this North American tour and with the news of his album releasing May 5th. The first single, “Touched By Heaven” is already out. I asked Van Dyk what excited him most about this album, The Politics of Dancing 3.

“I am a musician with all my heart and making music is an essential part of who I am,” van Dyk said. “So having music being released that I wrote and produced makes it one of the best things in the world.”

Curious to see who’s he has been in the studio with, I inquired if we could expect any collaborations on the album.

“The production process isn’t finished yet, but no. To me it is more important to work with someone who shares the same passion for music rather than someone who is considered famous by the mainstream,” he said.

It’s obvious that Van Dyk places a heavy importance on the musicality and production of each song. Having considered that, I inquired what went into the creation and inspiration of the album.

“Since I started making music live in general, everything I experience inspires my music and since most of the music was written after the accident, the impact and long lasting effects of what happened to me are part of the process,” he said.

Taking the accident in stride and having it serve as an inspiration to the music he has been creating makes me excited to hear what he’s cooked up. I’ve been a long time fan of Van Dyk’s, considering he was the reason I got into electronic music back in 2011. Curious to see if he had thoughts on how the industry has changed in that 6 year span, I asked if he could provide some insight into the constantly evolving electronic space. He offered some wise words.

“So many things have changed, it’s probably easier to talk about what has stayed the same. We, at Vandit record still search and support up and coming artist, we do what we do because we love the music,” van Dyk said. “And for me the accident and its impact has undoubtedly effected me heavily, but I am still as passionate as I have always been about the music I love.”

To show this passion for music, Van Dyk paired with Dreamstate to present his newest North American Tour. He says that “it’s gonna be something really special.”

I will be attending the first stop of the tour in Boston, eager to see what makes this tour so special. You can check out the rest of the tour dates below, or visit the site:

Your EDM Premiere: Armin van Buuren & Garibay – I Need You ft. Olaf Blackwood (ANGEMI Remix) [Armada]

Thu, 04/27/2017 - 12:46pm

It’s safe to say you’ve never heard Armin van Buuren like this before…

With his single “I Need You,” Armin gave three producers the opportunity to remix it and one in particular stood out to us. ANGEMI took the original downtempo, housey tune and evolved it into a massive production worthy of any main stage in the world.

Beyond Olaf Blackwood’s tantalizing vocals, ANGEMI crafts a bassline and drum loop that elevates everything by orders of magnitude, blaring larger-than-life synths and an addictive melody completely separate from the original. Future bass is definitely a perfect fit on this remix, as it makes use of sweeping effects and elongated notes to really drive that sound into the chests of listeners.

Check it out below! The full remix package with Galactic Marvl and Mokita is out tomorrow via Armada.

Also be sure to check out this year’s A State Of Trance compilation album, which is out now.

Rootkit – Levitate feat. Tylor Maurer [Monstercat]

Thu, 04/27/2017 - 2:46am

Though an overwhelming majority of his biggest hits have been D&B and drumstep, Rootkit has been much more widely recognized for his contributions to house music throughout the last couple years. The Norwegian producer started his run with house in 2014 with the sweet and sexy “Real Love,” but started producing the genre almost exclusively in 2015, kicking off with the g-house anthem “Concrete Jungle.”

A number of notable MCs have been featured throughout Rootkit’s newest incarnation, but the most common recently has been Tylor Maurer, the voice behind Rootkit’s smashing January release “Good 2 Go.” Fittingly, Maurer has teamed up with Rootkit yet again for “Levitate,” a track that undoubtedly feels like the spiritual successor of “Good 2 Go.”

Though the two have a lot of similar traits, “Levitate” has a much wider juxtaposition of sounds, contrasting its bright and bouncy melodies with its deep-pitched vocals and highly distorted synths. Regardless, this track is equally as club-friendly as the last and is a guaranteed jaw-dropper.

Anjulie & Justice Skolnik – Emotional

Wed, 04/26/2017 - 10:12pm

Hey guys. Want to know what’s better than a pretty cool Anjulie single called “Emotional?” Well, I’ll tell you. It’s when the singer teams up with rising producer Justice Skolnik to rinse the song out into glossy late night house cut that it was always meant to be.

Justice has been on our radar for quite some time now with some stellar remixes and with every passing release I can hear his sound maturing. This single is no different with Anjulie’s sultry vocals complementing the bouncy house instrumental that Justice has whipped out for us. Not quite suited for the pre-game, this edgy single is more suited as the soundtrack to afterparty on a late night out.

Riton has worked across the board. Starting out working with the Parisian Ed Banger crew, he quickly made a name for himself within the industry. To further his success, Rotin worked with the likes of Mark Ronson, Tame Impala, and remixed Disclosure and Frances.

Most recently, Rotin released a stellar music video to accompany his single “Money” in collaboration with Kah-Lo, Mr Eazi, and Davido. The music video highlights the theme of the tune, money, as being an unimportant facet of a fulfilling life. The video follows Mr Eazi around with cameos from the other collaborators as well. The track instantly hooks you in with happy house vibes provided by the driving bass line and catchy lyrics.
